Frequently asked questions
The short answers to the things people ask before their first PDF task — is it free, are files uploaded, do you need an account. Still stuck? There’s a contact link at the bottom.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every core tool is free with no daily limits and no watermarks. Because the work runs in your browser, it costs us almost nothing — so we don’t need to charge for it.
Do my files get uploaded?
No. Your PDFs are opened and processed entirely inside your browser tab. They are never sent to, or stored on, any server — you can even use Plume with your wifi off.
Do I need to create an account?
No — just open a tool and start. The free tools never need a sign-up. (Pro power features may add an optional account later.)
Is there a file size limit?
Free tools handle everyday documents comfortably. Very large or heavy files depend on your device’s memory — and like everything in Plume, they’re processed entirely on your device, never uploaded to a server.
Does Plume work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the tools keep working with no connection — because nothing is ever sent to a server, you can switch your wifi off and they still run.
How is this different from iLovePDF or Smallpdf?
The big difference is privacy and freedom: no uploads, no sign-up walls, no watermarks and no “2 tasks a day” caps. Same everyday tools, without the friction.
