Valid HIBC Code 39 input
Enter the HIBC LIC primary data without the + prefix. The structure is a four character Labeler Identification Code assigned by HIBCC (the first character is always a letter), then your product or catalog number of one to eighteen characters, then a single digit for unit of measure. Valid characters are the Code 39 set: digits, capital letters, space, and the minus, period, dollar, slash, plus, and percent symbols. Lowercase letters are rejected rather than converted, so type the payload exactly as it should scan.
The renderer wraps your input in HIBC framing on its own: it prepends the + flag and computes the modulo 43 check character. If you paste a string that already starts with +, the tool treats that plus as ordinary data and the symbol gains a duplicate flag character, so strip it before generating.

Common errors and how to fix them
- HIBC Code 39 must contain only digits, capital letters, spaces and the symbols -.$/+%
- The validator rejects lowercase letters and anything outside the 43 character Code 39 set. Retype letters as capitals and swap out characters like commas or accented letters before generating.
- Enter the content to encode.
- The data box is empty. Paste the LIC payload: the four character labeler code, your product number, and the unit of measure digit.
- Content is too long (max 2048 characters).
- This is the tool's overall input cap. A HIBC primary string never gets near it, so hitting this usually means a whole label text or file was pasted instead of the payload.
Size and printing
Code 39 is the least dense HIBC carrier: in this generator the thirteen character sample renders about 32 percent wider than the identical data as HIBC Code 128, and every extra character adds a fixed slice of width. Set the module width in millimeters (0.25 to 1.0 mm) to hold your verifier's target X dimension, and export at up to 600 DPI (or as SVG) so a thermal transfer printer reproduces the wide to narrow bar ratio cleanly. The ten module quiet zones a verifier expects are padded onto both ends automatically, so just keep neighboring label art out of that space.
