Questions people ask

Can I edit text that is already in the PDF?

Yes. Click the line and retype it, and the change keeps the original font, size and position rather than sitting in a box on top. If the embedded font cannot show a character you typed, that run is redrawn in a matching standard font so the text still appears.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. Open the page, press Recognize text to edit, and the built-in OCR reads the words so you can type over them. Most free online editors only let you stick new boxes on top of a scan, which is why edited scans usually look pasted on.

What is the difference between editing text and adding a text box?

Editing changes words that are already in the document, in place. Adding a text box drops brand new text on top. Use editing to fix a typo or change a value, and a text box to annotate or add something that was not there before.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole edit happens on your device in the browser, so the PDF is never sent to a server, there is no sign-in, and the download has no watermark.
